Geometric Modeling and Mesh Generation Techniques

This course presents major concepts of geometric modeling of curves, surfaces, and solids. The students are prepared for more sophisticated topics such as 3D-modeling and scientific visualization.
An overview and classification of different mesh generation algorithms and data structures as well as its application to finite elements are given.

Part One | Geometric Modeling
-- A comprehensive introduction to Curve and Surface Modeling
-- Lagrange and Hermite interpolation
-- control polygon- based methods
-- Bézier curves and surfaces
-- B-spline curves and surfaces
-- NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B-splines)
-- curve meshing
-- surface meshing
-- surface reconstruction
-- knot insertion and degree elevation algorithms

Part Two | Mesh Generation Techniques
-- structured mesh generators
-- unstructured mesh generators
-- advancing front techniques
-- Delaunay-based techniques
